The Dance Center of San Antonio is excited to be opening a new division specifically designed to meet the needs of students who receive their education at home or online! Home School Program classes offer the opportunity to discover and explore the fine arts through dance as well as to engage in physical activity. Homeschool Ballet - Lauren Ader-Cumpston
Homeschool Ballet is designed to develop basic ballet skills! Dancers will learn correct alignment and placement of the body as they master the fundamental ballet vocabulary. They will also develop a sense of musicality and artistry, better coordination, strength and flexibility, discipline and classroom etiquette!
Homeschool Jazz - Tino Valles
Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style, originality and flexibility. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy jazz hands, sassy walks , fancy footwork, big leaps, and quick turns. Jumps are very important in jazz. Some of the most popular jumps includes a calypso jump, Axels, barrel turns, Russian leaps, shooting stars, back jete leaps, spring backs and many more!!
Homeschool Hip-Hop - Tino Valles
We come off pointe and leap gracefully into the world of Hip Hop dance. Popular and current music bring a whole new energy while the dancer experiments with a wider variety of body sharp movements, isolations, and electrifying rhythm. Kids will learn how to loosen up their body during their funky moves while expressing their facial expressions into the world of hip hop.
Home School Folklorico - Tino Valles
Folklroico Clásico is a beautiful form of art dance style that allows the dancer to use classical ballet arm movements, high kicks , and quick paddle turns. Beginning students develop coordination, balance and weight shifting while learning body awareness. Girls and boys are taught the basics of body awareness, alignment, and posture. Students are taught the fundamentals of classic ballet stretches and the waltz, along with basic folklórico footwork that serve as a foundation for advancement into other classes. Students are expected to know the difference between right and left, and how to properly use the 5 basic steps in Folklroico dance.
