  • Founded by Artistic Director Vanessa Bessler, The Dance Center of San Antonio was created to bring elite professional dance training opportunities to a city filled with exceptional talent but limited access to high-level pre-professional training.

Working closely with her founding students, Vanessa quickly helped place San Antonio on the international ballet and dance stage. Over the past decade, DCSA has become the first and only studio in San Antonio to present dancers at internationally renowned events including the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi, Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland, Vaganova Prix in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York City, among others.

Beyond the stage, DCSA graduates have gone on to attend Ivy League and other prestigious universities, dance collegiately, join trainee and professional programs, and build successful careers across the arts, business, medicine, engineering, law, and more.

DCSA graduates have earned opportunities with prestigious organizations and programs including Dutch National Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Ballet Austin Butler Fellowship, Tulsa Ballet, Sarasota Ballet, Colorado Ballet, and more.

In addition, many DCSA students have earned nominations and scholarships through the JOCI Awards throughout the years.
