Kira Blazek-Ziaii

is a dance teacher and choreographer originally from Houston TX, where she received her formal training for 10 years at Houston Ballet Academy. She received a BFA in Modern Dance from Oklahoma University, and went onto dance for companies such as Hubbard Street 2, Douglas Dunn & Dancers, Anoukvandijkdc, Phantom Limb Company, Pilobolus Creative Services, and Shen Wei Dance Arts. Kira has also received her MFA in Choreography from California Institute of the Arts and is certified to teach Countertechnique®, a contemporary technique created by Dutch choreographer Anouk van Dijk. Kira has taught many levels of ballet, modern, and contemporary, and choreographed works on both professional companies and dance programs across the country.

Most recently, she was Assistant Professor of Contemporary Dance at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she taught for 9 years. She loves to share the joy of movement and dancing with students of all ages, and brings a deep understanding of healthy anatomical alignment and tools for a resilient mentality. Her former students have gone to dance for a wide variety of professional engagements such as: Sarasota Contemporary Dance, BODYTRAFFIC, Limon Dance Company, the Rockettes, Fiddler on the Roof, Vitacca Ballet, and Peridance Contemporary Dance Company to name a few. She is the mother of two precious children, and is excited to be back in Texas.
