Theresa Medina
Musical Theatre Day Program Vocal Instructor & Private Coach
Theresa Medina is a voice and performance instructor, professional musical theatre actress, and lead vocalist with a commanding mezzo-soprano range. She began her classical training at the age of 11, and since has evolved into a powerhouse performer. As a teacher, her methods come from the concept of the voice as an instrument. It is the most beautiful instrument, but the hardest to play.
Theresa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theater from The University of the Incarnate Word, specializing in education, voice and speech, performance, and design. After graduation, she began her professional theatre career playing roles from the soulful Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar to the vibrant Abuela Claudia in Lin-Manuel Miranda's In the Heights.
In addition to her theater work, Theresabrings versatility and heart to the stage as a live music performer with experience across genres including jazz, funk-jazz, soul, rock, blues, choral, Spanish, and country music.
As a teacher, technique is only the tip of the iceberg. Theresa believes in developing the students' confidences, helping them to surprise themselves in their discoveries.
